2019/2020 Calf Care Events
Animal Health Ireland and Teagasc are set to host Calf Care Farm Events in various locations throughout the country. Each farm event will begin at 11am.
Points to be discussed on the day will include:
Do you have enough space to house 75% of the calves due to arrive on your farm next spring?
- How many calves can be catered for on your farm already?
- Will you require extra space?
- Have you considered temporary housing, if required?
Healthy calves are happy calves.
- High standards of calf welfare are essential. Following best practice advice will ensure that high standards are maintained.
- Update yourself on the current and emerging issues around calf welfare.
Healthy, well reared calves are saleable calves.
- So how do you ensure your calves will attract a buyer?
- A list of requirements to assist dairy farmers preparing calves for sale will be discussed.
To achieve their full growth throughout their life, calves must be fed correctly from the start.
- Learn about the options available to feed young calves efficiently, without compromising calf health or performance.
