Free funded training opportunity for young co-op farmers

After the success of the 2021 Co-operative and Farm Business Development Programme, ICOS Skillnet has announced the launch of its 2022-2023 programme.

This Professional Development Programme is aimed at young farmers and is designed to improve the management skills of participants and increase their understanding of the co-operative sector. Applicants from related disciplines who wish to develop their skills in the farming and co-operative sectors are also invited to apply for the programme.

The programme is free and will begin in October 2022 and will finish in June 2023. The programme will take place online and will involve interactive learning alongside a number of discussion forums and in-person sessions. The majority of learning will be self-directed, with modules including Business Risks, Markets and Agricultural Policy. After completing the programme, participants will receive a certificate of completion from ICOS Skillnet.

Participants of this year’s programme will also be entered into a draw to be in with the chance of taking part in an international study-visit programme.  With six places (three male, three female) available as part of this international study-visit opportunity, the lucky participants will visit three European countries to learn about how co-operatives in these countries operate and engage with young farmers. This study trip will also provide an invaluable opportunity to meet and network with fellow farmers involved in co-operatives across Europe.

Places on the 2022-2023 Co-operative and Farm Business Development Programme are limited and will be filled on a first come first served basis. Applications are now open, to register your interest, click the following link: https://forms.gle/5nHT2cThkCQwNtMa6

Closing date for applications: 30th September 2022.
